February Highlights (Chinese New Year Celebration)

新年快乐! Wishing everyone an auspicious CNY from RO!

Once again, to celebrate CNY this year, we had our annual party at Lee Kong Chian Garden School. We started off the festivities with station games and some arts and crafts. Our members were a natural at expressing themselves through calligraphy! After the station games, the members took part in a rousing and exhilarating Chinese dance put together by our very own members, Alvin and Boon Siong. It’s really amazing how talented our members are!

As with any CNY gathering, we proceeded to indulge in the activity of “lo-hei”. Chopsticks were unsheathed, positions were taken and the customary well-wishes were chanted with enthusiasm… “Huat ah!” The carrots, radish and everything else in the plate were tossed up high, carrying with them the members’ and volunteers’ combined wishes and hopes for the new year. The plates of yu sheng soon became an artistic blend of colour and texture, reflecting the vibrant future in store for RO. Laughter filled the canteen, as this simple act of “lo-hei” reinforced the tightly knit bonds that hold us together and make us one RO family.

The celebrations ended off with full bellies and satisfied faces, as we enjoyed a sumptuous steamboat dinner made sweeter by the company. What a great and heartwarming way to start the Year of the Pig!

"Huat ah!"

Our members thoroughly enjoyed the station games! Good job, CNY planning team!
